Tea, coffee & cake
Everyone is welcome — whether you’ve been involved before or are brand new to the CAP.

We look forward to seeing you on the 21st!

Launch Event
We held our launch event on October 5th at Errol Village Hall. residents and Community leaders from several different groups spent time discussing and sharing about their ideas for the future and were able to hear this presentation about what the CAP process is about, its benefits and how to get involved. Feel free to download the presentation and share with your neighbours and community groups.

What is a Community Action Plan?
A Community Action Plan (CAP) is a document that sets out the aims of a community for 5 years. It has a vision to aim for and covers the changes that your community needs and wants, to become a thriving place for everyone to live.

These changes can include everything from setting up youth groups, working to make local streets safer, or planning to convert an empty local building into a community centre. These are just some of the many things that can be included. It also has a list of actions and projects alongside a delivery plan for how to make things happen. It’s used to create a shared mandate for change, help guide how groups work together, for funding applications, and make it easier to monitor progress.

The Community Plan will consolidate and build upon relevant parts of the Errol Local Place Plan created earlier in the year, particularly chapter 4. The LPP has already been registered with Perth and Kinross Council for assessment and potential inclusion as policies in the next Local Development Plan, and focussed particularly on issues around land and development in the area. The CAP will have a broader focus.

What does the process of developing a CAP look like?

There will be 6 stages (see image above) – each taking roughly a month. Stage 1 involves the online survey. Stage 2 in November is where we will hold most of the face-to-face community conversations (details will follow soon). We’ll develop the draft in January and then come back to the community in February to check in with the content and prioritise the actions that are most important to us.

Who is writing the Plan?
Errol Community Council have formed a steering group to develop the plan. They will invite everyone in the community to give their views and ideas.
The steering group will have support from local volunteers, as well as Place at the Table and Imagine If, who between them have created many similar plans across Scotland and have been employed by ECC, who are supported by Rural Perth & Kinross Community-Led Local Development (RPK CLLD) Local Action Group (LAG) with funding from the Scottish Government’s Rural Community-Led Local Development Fund 2025/26, part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme.

The Steering Group comprise: Gary Kinniburgh (ECC), Maria Walker (ECC), Gillian Gillies (ECC); Veronica Morrison (Twinning Group); Laura Finnegan; Gordon Walker (Errol Leisure).

What will be in the Community Action Plan?
Anything that you think will improve Errol as a place to live, work and visit. Over the next few months, we’ll be asking local folk for their ideas about how to make our community an even better place. And we’ll be working with you to develop it into a plan to make it happen.
The final plan might include:
● How you want Errol to look in 5 years’ time.
● Keeping existing initiatives going, ideas for starting new ones or developing local services and facilities.
● Ideas for local greenspaces and parks
● Suggested projects to help Errol become more sustainable and deal with the impacts of climate change.
● Big ideas to help make Errol a liveable place for all its residents.

Why should I get involved?
This is a chance to shape the future of Errol for ourselves, our friends and family, and our grandchildren and beyond. We have inherited a place that local people have helped shape and made better for us. We can’t pay that back, but we can pay it forward with our time and passion.

Will my idea be in the Plan?
That’s the aim! There will be many different ideas because Errol is a home to many different people.  We will work to identify ideas that will be beneficial and have the most significant impact.

We’d like to get input from as many people as possible. We’ll encourage discussion by being available at public events and going direct to local groups to the best of our ability and capacity over the next few months.

When will the Plan be complete?
We are aiming to have the plan completed by March 2026.
